Upgrading Your Plan
Upgrade your Distill subscription to unlock higher limits and features.
Upgrading your Distill plan takes less than two minutes and happens entirely through Stripe's secure customer portal. Your limits increase immediately after checkout — there is no delay, no re-verification, and no manual review required.
When to upgrade
You will typically want to upgrade when:
- You have reached the subscriber or workspace limit on your current plan.
- You are approaching your monthly sending volume cap.
- You need additional workspaces to manage more brands or clients.
- You require priority support (available on the Business plan).
Distill shows an upgrade prompt when you hit a plan limit. You can also upgrade proactively from the billing settings at any time.
How to upgrade
- Open your organization settings by clicking your avatar at the bottom of the sidebar.
- Select Billing from the account menu.
- Click Manage subscription to open the Stripe customer portal.
- In the customer portal, select Change plan.
- Choose the plan you want to upgrade to.
- Review the prorated charge and click Confirm.
You are returned to Distill automatically, and your new plan limits are active immediately.
Billing is handled entirely by Stripe. Distill never stores your payment card information. Stripe uses industry-standard PCI-compliant infrastructure to process all payments securely.
Understanding proration
When you upgrade mid-billing period, Stripe calculates a prorated charge:
- Credit — You receive a credit for the unused portion of your current plan. For example, if you are halfway through a monthly billing period on the Free plan (no charge) or a paid plan, the unused days are credited.
- Charge — You are charged the prorated cost of the new plan for the remaining days in your billing period.
The net amount charged is the difference between the new plan and old plan for the remaining days. You will see this breakdown in the Stripe checkout confirmation.
Example: You are on the Professional plan and upgrade to Business with 15 days left in your billing period. Stripe credits you half a month of Professional and charges you half a month of Business. Your next full billing date does not change.
What changes immediately after upgrade
As soon as your upgrade is confirmed:
- Your subscriber limit increases to the new plan's maximum.
- Your workspace limit increases (you can create additional workspaces right away).
- Your monthly sending volume cap increases.
- Priority support access is granted (for Business plan customers).
Any content, newsletters, and subscriber data you already have are unaffected by the upgrade.
Downgrading
You can also downgrade your plan through the Stripe customer portal. Downgrades take effect at the end of your current billing period — you keep your current plan's features and limits until then.
If you downgrade to a plan with lower limits than your current usage (for example, you have more subscribers than the lower plan allows), you will not lose existing data, but you will be unable to add new subscribers until your total is within the new plan's limit.
